Sun. Dec, 17 2006ƒNƒŠƒXƒ}ƒX is in the air in Japan for a while already. Actually, as soon as the Halloween "thing" was over, we could see everything turned into ƒNƒŠƒXƒ}ƒX' style. Everything and that does include everything: from the leaflet girls at the station to the ƒRƒ“ƒrƒj, or even the KFC character... As a result, you just feel like it is not Christmas. In a word, Japan is not the country for that, at least in the way Western people understand it. Especially when you come from Sweden where any window is enlighted with candles, days are really short and the temperature outside just makes everybody happy to share some heat and "ficka" in cafés or at home (and I don't talk about Sankta Lucia with all the processions, earlier in December). But, I can't complain, for locals, ƒNƒŠƒXƒ}ƒX is just something more or less imported...
Anyway, yesterday, there was the AJJ end of year party. Always the opportunity for the teammates to meet and discuss about the last season and make plans for the next one, having nice dinner and, of course, drinking a lot of beers. This time, the party was next to V‹´, an area that I know particularly well. Certainly, the only one in Tokyo and whole Japan. That was a very lucky idea because it helped me for the day. Since I had to finish my ƒNƒŠƒXƒ}ƒX‚̃Vƒ‡ƒbƒsƒ“ƒO, I spent the afternoon in ‹âÀ before coming back to the office to change for the party. At , ‹âÀ, I was really surprised to see how empty the stores were. At least, much less crowded than what I expected. I am so used to see all the stores packed with buying people the last week-end before Christmas... So, I could appreciate taking a look at very expensive goods and French brands, discovering clothes, jewelries that I won't probably be able to buy in my life.
Anyway, this time, I was right on time for the party (I even arrived in advance)! It was nice to see that, compared to last year, this time, I was quite able to discuss with everybody in “ú–{Œê. Finally, it looks like that my Japanese has improved in one year! The party was really good: a lot of beers, nice food and good laughs. Of course, there were a lot of gifts too and this year, I have been very-well rewarded for a reason I haven't identified yet. The club offered me the nice pair of spikes (shown on picture): A very nice Canterbury pair. Perfect for the coming months and it completes my "collection": I now have to chose between 4 pairs before going to the practice: 2 for hard grounds and 2 for tender ones (harder than for going to the office). It looks like I am provided like a pro now. I just wish that work will give enough time to attend matches and practices more than I did lately. I really hope so! The usual rewards, like MVP, best try, best new player, best support etc... were also distributed before we had to leave the restaurant (at 11pm...). Of course, the usual ones (‹v•Û, ”~, “, ‹³Žö, ‘¾“c‚³‚ñ, ›ˆä‚³‚ñ, ’†¼...) moved to an other pub for a couple of hours. Then, it was time to head back home. Actually, it was time for me to walk in between the Taiwanese prostitutes working in the area to reach the office and get all my stuff (clothes, gifts...) and slaloming back again between the "night-workers" at the station and jumping, me and all my bags, into a cab, direction: ‘åX
